Gender-based violence is any form of behaviour – including psychological, physical, and sexual behaviour – that is based on an individual’s gender and is intended to control, humiliate, or harm someone. This form of violence is generally directed at women and girls.
Time Magazine recently recognized the women and men who have spoken up against gender-based violence, sexual assault and sexual harassment as the 2017 “People of the Year.”
This past October, an online movement, known as the #MeToo movement, was created in order to fight sexual assault and harassment.
